With the announcement of authentic Muay Thai training, TAMA Martial Arts is carrying on a tradition that goes back over 2000 years. First practiced by Thai fighters against the invading Burmese army in 300 BC, Thai boxing is characterized by the combined use of fists, elbows, knees, and shins, for which it has gained the name “the art of eight limbs”.

Grandmaster Taningco has taught Muay Thai boxing and kickboxing for over 40 years and is certified under Kru Vut Kamnark of the United World Muay Thai Association. He trained under Master Timothy Gasper, who fought in Thailand, and other famous Thai instructors, like Kru Sakasem and Kru Pongyin.

Muay Thai classes take place three times a week, for an hour and a half. For the first five classes, beginners are trained in the fundamentals, before advancing to the group instruction. Almost all Muay Thai techniques use the entire body, making it an effective general conditioning exercise.
